The film Eastern Promises is directed by David Cronenberg, It is about a midwife who’s finding justice for a 14-year-old girl who died during delivery of her baby.
Anna Kithrova (Naomi Watts) acquired a diary from the girl and decided to find leads for who’s responsible for the girl and her child. In the diary, it was written that the teenager stayed with a wealthy restaurant owner who is involved with a Russian Mafia. The diary was translated but one page was missing,
Anna found out that the teenager was raped by a Russian. The Russian Mafia wanted to clear his name and and remained it a secret on the things occurred to Tiatna. He asked Nikolai Luzhin (Viggo Mortensen) the driver of the restaurant owner to find the diary.
Anna went to the restaurant to investigate. Nikolai Decided to help her, together they tried to solved the mystery of who was the father of the teenager’s baby.
As the story goes along, Nikolai was visited by the head of the mafia and was asked to join the russian mafia. He was able to fulfill his dream. Tattoo symbolizes the membership and loyalty to the clan.
In the end, she found out that the owner of the restaurant was the one who raped the teenager. Nikolai continued serving the mafia, he was not able to be with Anna. And Anna adopted the baby to have a good family to be with.
